Sock Match
Target Age:
Early Three-Year Old
Materials You Will Need:
basket of socks
What To Do:
The next time you're folding laundry, give your child the socks to sort and match. Show your child a methodical way to do this, such as placing one sock on the floor, taking another and comparing it, then leaving it if it matches. If it doesn't match, place it below the first sock and continue. Matching builds the visual discrimination skills necessary for reading. Sock matching also helps you get through the laundry more quickly!
