Scrub the Table
Target Age:
Early Two-Year Old
Materials You Will Need:
sponge, soap, bucket, scrub brush, towel
What To Do:
It is important to involve your child in 'clean up' time. This activity will help your child understand how to clean the play table. Fill a bucket with water and detergent. Show your child how to wet a sponge and wash the table. Have your child wet the scrub brush, put soap on the brush, and scrub the table. Show your child how to use large circular motions with the scrub brush, (a pre-writing skill). Sit back and let your child become involved in the scrubbing exercise. When your child is ready to wipe off the table with clear water, enjoy watching the table become clean, (without your help). After drying the table, show your child how to put everything back where it belongs. Complimenting your child will help build self esteem.
